Struth...

There's a bloke down there with no strides on!

Today's adventure was a trip to the ballet in Vancouver. We saw the Nutcracker Suite and both boys behaved themselves impeccably - although Mr Ebb did have to be consoled when we got to the end of the show and they still hadn't performed the Time Warp. Not even the Cadbury Fruit & Nut Dance would console him!

Actually it was really good fun, some amazing dancers and all in all a lovely post Christmas, pre New Year treat - all rounded off with a visit to Granville Island for dinner in the Market, yum. Much more refined than our (enjoyable if chilly) afternoon stomp round Swamp Lake at Belcarra yesterday (for more pictures of which, check out my Flickr page).

Oh, and we finally finished the turkey today too.

Originals

Today, not only did it stop raining, but we also took a trip out to Fort Langley, birthplace of British Columbia. It's an old trading post and settler fort, so it's the birthplace of European British Columbia. But what was good to see as well was the celebration of First Nation culture too.

In the main house there was an exhibition of First Nation dance masks like this one from the local Sto:lo people. I'll be posting more photos on my Flickr page soon and they're definitely worth a look. Along with a video clip of the wee man playing the part of 'wedding guest' at a fur trader's wedding.

And that brings us to the end me the holidays, but fortunately not the end of my holiday. Back to school/work for the boys tomorrow leaving big sis and I free for some girlie adventures. Yay!

Art for art's sake

For my last day in Bristol I decided to have a look at some culture.

First stop was Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery. The very same place that ran the hugely popular Banksy exhibition this summer. Sadly it's now over but for those like me that missed it, if you keep your eyes peeled you can see some of his work in situ outside. This one is on the side of an office just down the road. I don't know if it's genuine or added to complement the exhibition but it is impressive.

Tonight, to finish my day of culture, I'm going to Bristol Old Vic. But just now I'm worshipping at the temple of mammon, otherwise known locally as Cabot's Circus.

STOP PRESS!!!
The theatre was... well, strange. I know 6 Characters in Search of an Author is meant to be strange, but this was well wierd! I think I enjoyed it, but to be honest I'm not really that sure. Hmmm!
